Comments on "Goal Differential & Playoffs"
The numbers of teams that have made the playoffs are terribly sad. It's interesting that none of them post-date the 2001 season.
Contraction made things a lot tighter for the past three years. Expansion this year is helping to get rid of parity.
I should also mention that shootout wins are counted under draws for teams from 1996-1999.
And, Colorado is sitting at a GD of -1, so they have a shot at it.
