2006 Playoff Goals Watch

On October 20th I posted about how MLS (and virtually all American sports leagues) have less scoring in the playoffs than in the regular season. I predicted that with a 2.62 goals per game average in the regular season, given the history of the league, this year's playoffs should average 2.43 goals per game. That amounts to 26.7 goal in 11 games, so let's just round to 27. Currently there's been 25 goals through 10 games, so if the MLS Cup has two then the prediction will be perfectly accurate.

If 4+ goals are scored, then the playoffs would have a higher average than the regular season for only the third time.
