70.77% of Days Filled
Could this be the most pointless stat of the year? The western conference championship game between Houston and Kansas City will be played this Saturday, November 10th. The winner goes to the MLS Cup, which will be played eight days later on Sunday, November 18th. Why are those two dates important, aside from the obvious? Because, they represent two of the remaining 107 days on the calendar in which an MLS team has not played a competitive game. By competitive game, I mean regular season, playoffs, open cup, and international competitions (not counting friendly tournaments like La Manga or the one the Galaxy will play next year in Australia). All dates from April through October have been completed. It's up to future Champions Cup and playoff games to help fill out February and November, although January and December will likely never be completed unless the league were to switch to the 'regular' fall to spring calendar. And good luck getting February 29th. Days Left

Wow. If you're going to spend time on this kind of detail, isn't it time to step back and post on the World Cup seeding?
;)
I'm new to this stat and I'm confused about how this is calculated. For instance, in Jan you have 3 days filled and 28 days left. Does this mean that there were 3 MLS games (CCC, I assume) on 3 different days, and nothing played the other 28 days?
I know all 30 days in April didn't have soccer games, but 30 were filled and 0 were left.
Help me.
The La Manga Cup is not a friendly tournament except in name. It is the most prestigious trophy that any MLS team has ever won, roughly equivalent to 10 MLS Cups or three CONCACAF Champions' Cups.
Even Wikipedia makes clear that the La Manga Cup is not just some friendly tournament.

Yeah, that's correct.

This takes into account all games since the start of MLS in 1996.
Ah, well that makes sense.
Since I'm professing ignorance, is that Avril Lavigne as your avatar? Why? Is she into soccer stats?
No, she's just hot.
