I still consider it quite the bloody accomplishment that they count up to 90 and actually acknowledge things such as stoppage time and allow only three substitutes. I find it astonishing that this is the premier American footy league and they still are making up the bloody rules as they go along. So, I really could care less about secondary assists. There are far worse things about MLS.
like what?
The ever-changing salary cap and rules regarding player salaries for one. The rules, or lack thereof, regarding what happens when a DP slot is traded away to another team (does Chivas ever get theirs back?).
On the first point - why do Landy-cakes, Carlos Ruiz and Eddie Johnson get grandfathered in to have their salary count as a fixed amount towards the salary cap? Why doesn't this just extend to every team getting a second DP slot? I know we cannot do away with salary limitations because the Cosmos killed the party in the 80s. However, it seems like teams should be able to support a little more than 2 million per plus a DP.
Great Video illustrating the point! Secondary Assists are indeed redundant...
So Carlos Valderrama's record 26 assists in 2000 included 2ndary ones as well? That's mis-leading.
Loved part one, eagerly awaiting part two!
When's Part II coming???
Part II, probably sometime in the next week.
