BASAs: Forward of the Year
(5-3-1 scoring system) The second largest margin of victory, behind Kinnear (who was named the real Coach of the Year yesterday, along with Parkhurst as Rookie of the Year). No surprise for the top two spots, as that was the consensus. They were also the top two leading scorers. Landon and Youri got a few votes for Midfielder as well. Very little love for Cunningham and Ruiz, despite their high goal numbers. Wolff was the only guy in double figures without a vote. I find it interesting that Gomez does better than Donovan here (although he was named on one fewer ballot). I've saving my thoughts until I'm done posting all these, but I will say that I don't agree with that at all. We're in the home stretch of the first ever BASAs; the Best XI followed by the Player of the Year in the next two days. Results Schedule 10/24-Goalkeeper of the Year (Pat Onstad) 10/25-Coach of the Year (Dominic Kinnear) 10/26-Rookie of the Year (Michael Parkhurst) 10/27-Defender of the Year (Danny Califf) 10/28-Young Player of the Year (Clint Dempsey) 10/31-Midfielder of the Year (Dwayne DeRosario) 11/01-Old Player of the Year (Youri Djorkaeff) 11/02-Forward of the Year (Taylor Twellman) 11/03-Best XI 11/04-Player of the Year (Bigsoccer thread) |

Forwards need to score goals and Herculez Gomez scored more in all competitions (US Open Cup, MLS) than any other MLS player this year. Furthermore, he didn't play until June. As a Galaxy fan, he was great to watch. I hope he doesn't have a second season slump.
I voted for Twellman for second place, and Ruiz for third.
I really wanted to vote for Wolff, but put Moreno down instead. He should've got at least one vote.
