BASAs: Best XI
I'll have to do some explaining for this award. I allowed each voter to name their own Best XI using whatever formation they chose (as long as it was a real one). I then took the top ten field players with the most selections and the top goalkeeper, which makes the Best XI. Any ties were broken by the players' ranks in their own position's award, and then by points in that award. So without any further ado, here's the BASA Best XI: Matt Reis (NE) Jose Burciaga (KC) Bobby Boswell (DC) Chris Albright (LA) Clint Dempsey (NE) Dwayne De Rosario (HOU) Kenny Cooper (DAL) Christian Gomez (DC) Landon Donovan (LA) Ante Razov (CHV) Jeff Cunningham (RSL) As you can see, it's very offensive-minded, which is not a shock. Cooper played on the wing for a good portion of the season, so I guess we can consider him a midfielder and this formation to be a 3-4-3. Despite winning the Goalkeeper of the Year award, Troy Perkins loses out to Reis. He did that award despite getting fewer first place votes, so that makes sense. De Rosario, Donovan, and Gomez are the only players to return from last year's BASA Best XI. Gomez was the only unanimous selection. Voting
